Denver Post Community’s Signature Events that offer readers opportunities they won’t find anywhere else. These programs and events are produced by the paper and are
designed to bring unique quality experiences to the community. Most of these events and programs benefit the paper’s charitable funds, Denver Post Charities and Denver Post Season To Share, both McCormick Foundation Funds. All money raised is matched at 50 cents on the dollar by the McCormick Foundation, and 100 percent of these funds, as well as the match, are distributed to local nonprofit agencies that provide literacy services and/or programs for low-income youth.

BASKET OF JOY
Co-founded in 1983 by Denver Post columnist Woody Paige, the Basket of Joy program continues to bring joy each year to over 5,000 isolated and homebound seniors in our community. On one day each December, over 500 volunteers come together to assemble and deliver holiday gift baskets filled with fresh fruit, candy and a handmade card from a Denver-area school child.
CHILDREN'S RANCHLAND PETTING FARM
This exhibit at the National Western Stock Show remains one of the most popular and highly visited of any exhibits at the event. The Children’s Ranchland Petting Farm provides children and their families with the unique opportunity to interact with over 60 farm animals, from goats and pigs to baby cows and ducks.

Train fans from across the county and the metro area come to experience a day of fun and the joys of riding a train pulled by the only operating steam engine in the country, the Union Pacific 844. The day includes a breakfast and dinner on the train, a parade in Cheyenne, a catered barbecue lunch, and tickets to rodeo.
