Season To Share – Thank You

Thank you to all who contributed to the 2019 Denver Post Season To Share presented by Denver Active 20-30 Children’s Foundation. The funds raised will be granted to more than 50 metro Denver nonprofit organizations that provide life changing programs for low-income children, families and individuals. These agencies work tirelessly to prepare children and youth for success in the classroom and in life; protect children and families in need with medical care; house families and individuals in need of a permanent home; and nourish those who experience hunger. Agencies will be announced at the end of March.

 

Postponed – Building Bridges – An Evening with Ibram X. Kendi

We are proud to support “Building Bridges” – an event featuring Ibram X. Kendi, the New York Times bestselling author of How To Be An Antiracist. Thank You Trans-Siberian Orchestra

We are so grateful for the continued support and generosity of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra to the Denver community. On Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, The Denver Post Season To Share presented by Denver Active 20-30 Children’s Foundation, received a check in the amount of $17,975 from TSO prior to their amazing evening performance.
This gift, combined with others up to $800,000 received throughout the campaign, will be matched by Denver Active 20-30 at 50%. We thank the Trans-Siberian Orchestra for choosing to help our local 50+ nonprofit organizations focusing on children and youth, health and wellness, homelessness, and hunger.

The Denver Post ACTS – Employee Volunteers Give Back

On Saturday, November 2, 2019, The Denver Post ACTS (Assisting the Community Through Service) employee volunteers with their family and friends, spent their morning at Food Bank of the Rockies reclaiming, sorting, and packaging donations. Our group helped pack up 12 pallets with 480 boxes, weighing 12,880 lbs (which is over 6 tons!) and if everything would’ve been food items, that would equal 11,000 meals for those in the metro Denver area. We are so grateful to the ACTS volunteers who gave their time to help others in the community.

Pedal The Plains

The 2019 Denver Post Pedal The Plains Bicycle Tour, presented by Viaero Wireless, was a great way to conclude Colorado’s cycling season. The 8th Annual PTP Tour took place Friday through Sunday, September 13 – 15 and  highlighted three great host communities: Lamar, Holly and Springfield. Here are just a few of this year’s highlights for cyclists and friends:
  • Great Educational Stops like the Amache Japanese American Internment Camp; Syracuse Dairy; Santa Fe Trail Association; and the Art of a Cowboy Poet
  • Crossing into Kansas and visiting Cousin Eddie’s (yes, from National Lampoon’s Vacation!)
  • Friday Night Lights
  • Locally sourced food on and off the route

The Denver Post Pedal The Plains Bicycle Tour is produced in partnership with the Governor’s Office and the State of Colorado. This one-of-a-kind annual cycling event began in 2012 and celebrates the agricultural roots and frontier heritage of Colorado’s eastern plains.

 Proceeds benefit The Denver Post Community Foundation in support of the Colorado FFA Foundation and Colorado 4-H. For more information, click here. 

The Denver Post ACTS Volunteers Help the Denver Public Library

We are grateful to have employees and friends who want to give back to the community. The Denver Post ACTS (assisting the community through service) volunteers helped set up the Denver Public Library‘s Summer Used Book Sale in early June. It’s not an easy task to unpack boxes of books and repack with the spines readable, but the group worked hard and fast to help get the books ready for the sale. The event raised approximately $70,000 for the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation! Thank you to the following ACTS volunteers (some of whom not pictured): Anneka, Mike, Gigi, Kristin, Connie, Chatton, Cindy, Carol and Stacy.
The Denver Public Library Friends Foundation’s Summer Used Book Sale was the next project of re-sorting thousands of books getting everything ready for the popular public sale.

The Denver Post Ride The Rockies 2019

The 34th Annual Denver Post Ride The Rockies Bicycle Tour is in the books after a beautiful week spent with 1,700+ cyclists from across the world.

The Tour, which took place June 9 – 15, 2019, was another loop ride. We want to thank our Title Sponsor, Flexential and all of our partners and sponsors for making the ride possible.

With the start in Crested Butte, the 2019 Route had great highs with peaks including Monarch Pass, Independence Pass and McClure Pass and wonderful lows as they meandered through both the Gunnison and Roaring Fork Valleys. For more Ride The Rockies information, please visit ridetherockies.com

These organizations work tirelessly to prepare children and youth for success in the classroom and in life, protect children and families in need with medical care, house families and individuals in need of a permanent home, and nourish those who experience hunger. The 54 agencies who will benefit from your kindness will be announced in early April.

Denver Post Employee Volunteers Make a Difference

The Denver Post ACTS – Assisting the Community Through Service, employee volunteers with their family and friends  have been busy over the summer. Signing up once again to be part of the AMP the Cause Community Day, the team selected the Ronald McDonald House – Denver as the location of service. After making hundreds of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and putting together readily available to-go grab bags, the ACTS group deep cleaned the house from front to back.
The Denver Public Library Friends Foundation’s Summer Used Book Sale was the next project of re-sorting thousands of books getting everything ready for the popular public sale.
The last ACTS project of the summer was collecting school supplies for the Stuff the Bus campaign for homeless students attending a Denver Public School. MEED (Minority Enterprise & Educational Development) organizes this drive to collect backpacks and school supplies each year and distributes the supplies in the fall.
Thanks to the creativity of the three employees pictured on the left and their team, the Stuff the Bus Carnival took place to raise money to purchase school supplies. Denver Post employees generously donated over $1,700 through this Carnival. With additional supplies donated from employees, well over $2,000 was spent on much needed supplies for less fortunate students.
